some profound windows relief questions
Hello,
sorry for so many questions at the same time, but I think it is better
so, as to post five separate messages.
1) Are there a program, which enables me (even in a programs
window) (with a seldom key mouse combination like alt-right mouse
button) to have access to start menu oder something self-established
contextmenu?
2) Is there any utility, which enables me (with hotkeys) to access
the last (for example)
20 or 30 programs, I have started from the shell or over command
prompt recently,
to access quickly in a list and select with cursor keys and start
this program?
In addition, it would be wonderful, to have access to the most
often started programs
(sorted in a list)
I heard, that in a directory applog, such information will be
collected)
3) I know some utilitis (such as applauncher), which are really
nifty (but I dont like the behaviour,
to pop up only when the mouse reaches a certain region of the
screen
(It would be more comfortable, to in addition press the middle or
right button of the mouse
to activate them)
Do you know such a program?
4) Is there a possibility, to extend or define an own right context
menu of the desktop
(when not, to create such a context menu of my own?, maybe with
alt-right mouse button)
Then I think, it should be possible, to use such a combination
even in a program window
(I suppose, most programs will not query alt-right mouse button)
Who knows such a program?
5) resourcen manager
On my pc I have 256 mb ram, only throug the windows resources,
I’m limited, how many programs
can be opened at the same time.
If I have 32 mb ram, it would be not much worse. Am I right?
How can I discover, which program is a resource spendthrift?
and is there a program available, which can restore a part of my
lost resources,
after I closed the "resource eater"?
Thanks in advance

win98 on 2nd partition
I’d like to run a test that requires me to install win98 on a 2nd
partition. (I currently have win98 on the 1st partition).
I created a primary partition using partition magic which is now marked
as hidden. I have a startup disk created from the control panel. I have
the win98 cd rom.
How do I get the system to "see" only the 2nd partition? How can I do
this installation?
I’ve read a lot of postings here, but none of them seem to get directly
to the problem I have. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Prob with Sound Recorder and Help files
Hi –
I’ve got a couple of probs I’m hoping someone might be able to help me
with.
1. I am trying to try out my microphone with my PC – running Win98 –
however – when I open the sound recorder – the one that came with Win98
– I get the message saying that another program is recording audio – and
to stop that and try again. did a contol-alt-delete and shut down
DirectCd which I saw was running – though I was not using it. But that
made no difference. I then tried to use the help in the sound recording
program. Which brings me to
2. The help file would not come up. I then tried just the regular
windows help via the start menu – and of course, that wouldn’t work
either. I then tried to find the help file(s).
I found all the individual .hlp files under windows/help – but clicking
on any produces a message: "This file is not meant for browsing.
This file is not meant for browsing. It contains help and error
messages."
I’m not sure whether I have ever used the mike with this computer. I
know I did use it on my previous one.
What I am trying to do is try out Yahoo Messenger and see how their PC
–> telephone works. I’ve even now uninstalled that to see if that
might have been interfering with the sound recording…but that had no
effect…
Any ideas on how to be able to use the sound recorder – and also get
back ability to use helpfiles?? (Hoping any solution does not involve
reinstalling windows, as I’m rather wary of that…)

Sound icon disappeared from tray
Hi –
I’m trying to figure out how to get my sound icon back in my system
tray. In control panel/multimedia the box where you’re supposed to be
able to check to say show icon in tray is grayed out.
I’ve pulled out the soundcard and then reinstalled it, and also
uninstalled and reinstalled the software for it. I can now use the
sound recorder, for instance, and open up the volume control through
it, but I would rather have the icon in the tray.
I was surprised to have the problem as the last time I had used this
computer the sound was fine. I had resorted to it because of probs
outlined in a separate message.

big problem with my hard drive on win 98
this is something really urgent so any kind of help will really be
appreciated!
one day, i was installing an app and a game (ms office 2000 and final
fantasy vii) from a state where nothing but win 98 was installed. i was
trying to install a third app (adobe photoshop) and all of a sudden a
dialog box comes up saying "you’ve run out of space on drive c:". i used
my system recovery cd to reformat the hard drive and reinstall win 98.
This time, i only installed winamp and tried to copy a 30-mb movie and it
says that i’ve run out of space again!!! what gives?

Missing drives in Windows98
I have an AOpen DVD RAM Drive, a Toshiba CD-ROM and Plextor CD Writer and
every drive apart from the Toshiba is not being displayed in My Computer or
in Device Manager. However is I boot up into Safe Mode they are all there
in Device Manager.
Sometimes the drives appear in Windows, but today they are not being
displayed at all and I’ve not installed any hardware or software.
There are no conflicts in Device Manager that I can see.
Can anyone help?
