Lost .NSC file type assoc. What's the standard app to reassoc with?

While playing around, I "seem" to have accidently disassociated a file
type, which — to now does not appear to cause a problem. Please let me
explain. I like to listen to radio webcasts, and have a habit so disliking
the typical ads displayed in the accompanying html, that I "dig down" into
that html and pull the raw RP (real player) or WMP (Windows Media Player)
link, and use IT to obtain the webcast. For instance, I like KOGO (
http://www.kogo.com ). If one goes there, and clicks on their webcast,
they’ll end up with a resized IE box with little ads, that plays the
webcast thru the WMP plug in. To ontain a direct link for play without ads
thru the WMP "application", I only needed to fetch a copy of the ".asx"
file from the IE TIF folder, and double clicking it from my desktop gets
me the webcast.

The same can be done for webcasts that use RP. But let’s jump forward to
another radio station that uses the WMP plug-ins where this becomes "ever
so slightly" more difficult. For KPBS FM ( http://www.kpbs.com ),
the ".asx" file is not downloaded at play-time, rather, a ".pl" file is
created in TIF that if edited with NOTEPAD, a "remote" link to the ".asx"
can be found, and wa-la, if you make an HTML link to IT, you can grab the
webcast without having to maintain an IE page.

There is a third WMP scenario, which also gets me a webcast, but this time
a ".NSC" file is downloaded to suppliment the ".asx" file. This is the
case when obtaining a webcast from KSDO ( http://www.ksdo.com ), I fear I
disassociated the ".NSC" file type when playing around trying to figure
out the scheme.

How you can help me: Clean out your IE TIF folder, go to ksdo.com, and
click the listen live link. You will be transported to a yahoo page, where
you must click a final button to hear the webcast thru the WMP
application. Allow the connection to establish, then shutdown WMP —  and
close all IE windows. Open the TIF folder, and you will see (amoung
others), a ".asx" file, and a .NSC" file. Make a copy of the .NSC file on
you desktop. Notice that it has an icon. Mine DID but no longer does! I’ve
apparently disassociated it with some something, but I do not know what.
That is where YOU come in. What? What was the association?

Thanx in advance, more thanx than a wiggly puppy who wants to pee on your
lap.

MSIMN caused a page fault in URLMON

Wondering if anyone has any experience with this error.  Running Win 98SE
with Outlook Express, happily e-mailing along and at no particular time that
I can tell, a stop message appears telling me that "MSIMN has caused a page
fault in module URLMON".  Of course this requires closing, dropping out of
the program and you need to reboot to ensure the "bad karma" has been
removed.  What a pain!  I can’t tell exactly when this started or what piece
of shareware I might have installed to bring on this flu.  This happens once
or twice a day as the program is being used.  Never seems to happen when
it’s just lying "dormant" (I leave it on 24//7).  I went to MS searchable
knowledgebase and attempted a search but was unable to find the precise
article I was looking for.  Maybe I’m not searching in the right area.

Clean-Install Win98 – M-board drivers?

I’m about to reformat and re-install Win98.

I have a Gigabyte GA-6BXE motherboard.  I know which drivers it usually
needs (Intel LDCMR, Ultr DMA/33 Bus Master IDE Driver) but which do I need
to install – does Win98 install any/all of them automatically?

W2K Pro boot error

Hi, all

On W2K Pro we have the following problem: after system
rebooting a message, saying that "The program svchost.exe has
generated an error and will be closed by Windows. An errorneous
log will be generated", emerges. After closing that dialog one can
see, however, that scvhost.exe (sometimes two copies of it) is still
loaded in memory.  Moreover, it cannot be removed from there
even by admin. Is anybody knows, what is wrong and how to
deal with it ?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Andriy Mykulyak.

The Perfect Christmas Gift 2738

Two days ago I ordered 10 pieces of paper money from 10 different countries from a company called Perth Numismatics. Lo and behold they arrived today and they are very nice and colourful. They even have a bill from Antarctica. I didn’t even know they existed. These are perfect for stocking stuffers or people who are hard to buy for. The website address is www.perthmoney.com
Good luck and Merry Christmas

slow scrolling in Win95

Hello I am trying to help out a customer who is having trouble with
scrolling through large lists in Win95.  I installed 15 clients of the same
type machine, in one company.  One of the fifteen is having trouble
scrolling through lists and documents, specifically in Word 97.  It seems
that they scroll down but it takes a while for the scroll bar to catch up
with them.

If you have any ideas please post them or email me at ry…@hotmail.com

W98 "turns down", how to stop it??

I have selected the power option "Always ON". All three line items are
set to "Always on". I have no screen saver selected.

BUT, the PC eventually goes into standby, if there’s no KB or Mouse
activity for a long period [maybe 15 or 30 mins].

Thus, when I run Nero ROM Burner to copy a CD, and leave the PC to do
it’s thing, the Darn thing turns itself OFF, and the CD burner stops.
Sometimes in mid burn  - producing a coaster.

What do I have to do, to keep the PC [all components] permanently ON?

Any help much appreciated.
